Flowchart – Visualizing sequences

All the processes in construction follow a certain sequence. If this sequence is represented in a step by step graphical way, say a diagram, it becomes very easy to follow for Quality control teams.

For instance if there are certain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be adhered to then these are converted into a flowchart which makes it visually easy to understand and follow. Anyone on site can figure out which process follows others and maintaining the sequence becomes very critical.

Thus Flowcharts as a Quality Control tool is used to visualize the sequence of steps in a process, event, workflow, system, etc. In addition to showing the process as a whole, a flowchart also highlights the relationship between steps and the process boundaries from start to end.

In Flowcharts, certain pointers can also be incorporated such as stages where Project managers need to take certain decisions as per the standards set for the project. These decision points can be indicated on the Flowcharts for the construction personnel to know where and which decision they are supposed to take
